Favorite Post from the week
Earlier this week, thanks to this post by Jaime at Toby's Tails, I learned about TheShelf.com, a new website that you can save clothes and accessories to on your "shelf" to go back and look at. The website also tells you when things you added go on sale or get to a certain price that you are interested in. I'm hoping to check it out this weekend!

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend to all of you! Thanks for stopping by!

----------------------------------------------------------

These are the last 2 posts for the Blog Every Day in May linkup, and I'm happy to be done. Although it provided some good ideas for writing, at times I felt it got to be a burden and I don't like when blogging feels like something I have to do instead of something I want to do.

Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go

I'm keeping it simple for this one. A long time ago when I made my Teens Encounter Christ weekend, I learned this saying, and I try to think of it often when things are bothering me or worrying me.

Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

I'm going to share with you my memory of the night Ryan proposed to me...

In December of 2010, Ryan came to visit me once his finals were done before heading home for Christmas break. I had to work, so he came and got my apartment keys because he was going to make supper.  When I came home, I walked into an apartment full of candles and a delicious chicken alfredo supper.  I didn't think much of it, besides the fact that it was really nice and romantic of him to do this. When we had previously talked about getting engaged, we had talked about waiting until that following spring or summer, so I wasn't expecting it at all.

After supper, we played one of our favorite board games, Scrabble.  After the game was over, Ryan told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he had spelled out, "I Love You" with the letters, and I thought that was cute. He told me to close them again, so I thought that we were going to play a little game to see what cute sayings we could spell out.

However, this time when he told me to open my eyes, he was on one knee, and the Scrabble board spelled out, "Will You Marry Me".  I was very surprised and super excited! It was such a cute proposal and I couldn't have asked for anything more special.
My candlelit apartment I came home to.

The magic question!

My gorgeous ring, that Ryan picked out all on his own!

Sing It

#blogeverydayinmay

Day Twenty-Nine: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post

"Don't Stop Believing by Journey" - this song takes me all the way back to driving around in my friend Danielle's car after a high school volleyball tournament and all of us girls jamming out. Ever since then, it's been a favorite!

"Better Half" by Keith Urban - this is one of the songs I remember most from my first Keith Urban concert with Ryan and also his concert a couple of years ago with my girls, good times and an awesome concert!

"Every Good Thing" by The Afters - this song reminds me every time I hear it that all things come from God and we need to thank Him for all He has given us

"God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton - this was our first dance on our wedding day and so I just love the wedding memories it brings and the words in the song are so true of Ryan and I

"Amie" by Pure Prairie League - this song reminds me of home. My dad used to play this song and sing it with me all the time when I was little and he says that it is how they decided to spell my name.

Day Twenty-Eight : Only pictures

In case you missed my earlier post about my weekend, here are some pictures from my long weekend including family time, firepits, drinks, grilling, wedding, and our 1st anniversary!

Memorial Day Shenanigans

Sami's Shenanigans

Friday...

After Ryan got home later from working out of town, we joined a couple of our friends who were camping and sat around the fire, had some drinks and made smores.

Saturday...

A few friends from work and I helped another work friend celebrate her wedding! We had a great time and it was fun to catch up. And they had an awesome photo booth, score!

Sunday...

Sunday was our 1 year anniversary, so we had to try out our cake top from our wedding, and it actually was pretty good! We went back home and spent some time with Ryan's family at his aunt and uncle's lake house, which was very relaxing. I also got to go on a nice walk with my girls Ashley and Samantha from 3 Oh 1 Grace St. Sunday night, we visited Ryan's niece and grilled out with Ryan's sister and her husband. We sat around the fire after supper and got to have more smores, yummy!

Monday...

In the morning, we visited Ryan's older nieces and played a few intense games of Dora Candyland. Then we had lunch with my family and got to see my aunt who is home from New Orleans. I got to go on a walk with my parents, too. Monday night we had a delicious cream can supper with some friends and family!

And then we had to come back and start the work week again, darn! Hope you all have a good short week and enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend! Thanks to all of those who served in the past and who are currently serving in our armed forces to defend our freedom!!

Anniversary and Blog Every Day in May

Today, my husband and I are celebrating our one year anniversary, yeah! We made it through our first year of marriage! We've learned a lot and know there is so much more yet to learn, but I know that I love him so much and am so glad to have Ryan in my life!

Day Twenty-Five: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)

In this bible verse, Jesus reminds us of his love...

John 15:9-17

New International Version (NIV)
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Day Twenty-Six: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.

In the aftermath of the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, I've been reading a lot of the articles about what happened, about the damage, and the lives lost. I can not imagine being in that situation and just pray for all those affected. One really great article I read was one about some advice from those in Joplin, Missouri who gave some advice and encouragement to the people in Oklahoma.

Friday Favs + Worst Traits

FollowtheRuels

Linking up with Lindsey at Follow the Ruels today!

Favorite Post
I absolutely loved this post that Emily from Newlywed Moments wrote. She wrote a love letter to herself, reminding her of how much she loves her husband and why to have on hand when marriage may get tough. As a newlywed myself, I can definitely feel where she is coming from and the letter was so sweet!

Day Twenty-Four: Your Top 3 Worst Traits

Not in any particular order...

1. My big feet - They make it really hard to buy shoes, they make really good jokes for other people, and sometimes they make me clumsy

2. Self-consciousness - At times, I worry way too much about what other people think. I just need to be myself, live my life how I want and not care what others may think about my hair, my clothes, or what I'm doing

3. Clean/Organization Freak - Sometimes, I just want everything to be put away and clean and organized, and it's not going to happen. I just need to get over it. Most of the time, this trait is good, but at times it gets a little out of hand. And, this also makes me judge others when I see messy houses, but I shouldn't because people are busy and some people just don't care if their house is a little unorganized.

Grey's Anatomy + Things They Don't Teach You

Not much on my mind today, except that I'm sooo ready for the weekend! And I miss my husband, I'm ready for him to come home anytime now.

And...I finally caught up on my DVR and watched the Grey's Anatomy season finale...all I can say is CRAZY! Do any of you watch it? What did you think? A lot happened in this episode that's going to lead to all kinds of things next season! Now comes the waiting until then, I'll have to find a new show to watch until then!

Day Twenty-Three: Things You've Learned that School Won't Teach You

* Life isn't fair

* Real life stuff like life insurance, car insurance, retirement funds (and I'm still learning this stuff)

* As you get older, you can't eat whatever you want and not gain weight, it sucks

* How to change a flat tire

* You don't get summer break in real life (maybe school did teach me this, but I still don't like it)

* How to budget and save money effectively

I'm an Aunt Again

On Monday morning, our new little niece arrived and she is adorable! I got to go visit her twice already and didn't want to leave! Mom (Ryan's sister) and baby are doing pretty good. Can't wait to see her again soon and spoil her!

Day Twenty-Two: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

Here are a few of my pet peeves...

...messes (my husband pushes this button sometimes when he leaves his clothes laying around)

...patients that come to the ER for stupid reasons (ER stands for EMERGENCY people)

...slow drivers in the fast lane

...people that post way too many statuses way too often on Facebook

...unorganization (I am sort of a clean/organized freak), I just don't like when things aren't in the right place)

Sha-Nan-A-Gins...of my weekend

Friday... My sister was home from Minnesota for the weekend, so my family all got together at our apartment for supper! It was good to have everyone together. We enjoyed a delicious meal, some yummy ice cream and cake for dessert and even went on a nice family walk. We celebrated my sister's graduation, my dad's birthday and Ryan's birthday.

Saturday... I worked all day at the hospital and then went back home Saturday night for a wedding dance. One of our friends, who is also Ryan's classmate got married. The bride and groom looked great and I got to see a lot of friends and we had a blast at the dance!

And in the "Tales of my Lovely Friend Ashley"...she had a pretty exciting night! (she is the one in the white and peach dress)

She caught the bouquet at the wedding (probably the third or fourth one she has caught in recent weddings), and so she's hoping (as am I) that this is the lucky one! And she caught it like a champ, nobody else was getting close to that bouquet, she was on a mission!

And later in the night, while showing off her awesome dance moves during the Harlem Shake, she had the most EPIC wipeout of the night. Although I have no photo or video proof to show you, I promise you we all laughed hysterically as she slipped on some spilled beer. But, she got right back up and kept on going!

(Ash, if you're reading this, I love you!) :)

My sister also had her graduation ceremony from college, so congrats to her and sorry I missed the celebration!

Sunday... I worked again, and was a little tired, but survived the day! Sunday night, we relaxed at home and I spent some time with my husband before he leaves for work out of town ALL week.

Day Twenty: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.

I'm going to reference you back to my Day 16 post about my struggles, so read if you didn't already!

----------------------------------------------------

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Last, but definitely not least, I want to wish my wonderful husband Ryan a very happy 24th birthday today! Hope you have an awesome day. Glad we got to celebrate last week and I'm sad I won't be with you on your birthday.

Day Eighteen: A Childhood Story

Well...I was trying to think of a really good story, but this is all I could come up with.

One of my favorite things to do when we were younger was to go pick mulberries off of the mulberry trees by our house. We had a couple bigger ones and one smaller tree. With the smaller one, it was easiest. We would take an old sheet and put it on the ground around the tree and then all of us would grab a branch or two and just shake them, seeing how many we could get to fall. If they fell, you knew they were ripe and ready to eat! Then, we would put them all in a bucket and take them back home to eat, and they were delicious! The best part was the nice stains we got on our hands and feet. This isn't my picture, but this is what it usually looked like when we were done.
