It's Christmas Time

Today is November 30th, which means one day until December and less than one month until Christmas! I am so excited for this lovely season! I have started on my shopping, but still have alot to go. I have definitely started listening to Christmas music, I love it so much! And our tree is bought, but not decorated yet. It's our first Christmas together as a married couple, so Ryan and I will be decorating it with each other (pictures to come soon).

As we get into this season, let's remember the true meaning of Christmas, to give to others and to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus! This is one of my new favorite Christmas songs from Francesca Battistelli, called Heaven Everywhere, please enjoy!

A Long Overdue Girls Night

Last night, we went out for a girls night that was much needed and very overdue! The four of us went to the same restaurant we've been eating at together since high school, Michael's Cantina. We always get their delicious bean dip for an appetizer and we even got a strawberry margarita pitcher this time. It was all very good, as always! It was great to catch up and laugh! After eating, we made a trip to the mall and Hobby Lobby for some Christmas decorations.

And, on Tuesday night I got to go support my brother at his Doane basketball game, go Tigers!

Now it's back to work for the next few days! Have a good weekend everyone!

Long Weekend Recap

Hello All and Happy Tuesday! It has been a long weekend, and here is what I have been up to.

On Thursday, Ryan and I went home and celebrated 3 family Thanksgivings in one day. It was a long, busy day but it was wonderful to see our families! We had a lot of delicious food and played some fun games, including Bunco (a Schlautman holiday tradition) and Spoons (which gets pretty violent on the Svehla side).

Thursday night into Friday morning, Ryan and I joined the crazies and did some Black Friday shopping! We had good luck, and got the 2 top things on our list, which were our first Christmas tree together and a Dyson vacuum!

Friday, I got to see my friend Jenny, who currently lives in Kentucky. We got to catch up and even play some basketball and visit with our old high school basketball coach. After running up and down the court a few times, I found out that I am no longer in basketball shape and my shooting percentage is not as high as it used to be, but it was still a good time.

Friday night, we had another family Thanksgiving, but this one was themed, Cowboys vs Indians. It was pretty entertaining to see all of the costumes!

Ryan wouldn't let me put up the picture of him and I because he was dressed as a cowgirl (I thought his costume looked great, but evidently he didn't want to share it with the blogging world)

Saturday we got in a little relaxation time and then celebrated at Ryan's niece's 4th birthday party.

After the birthday party, we came home and played an intense game of Monopoly with my brother, who eventually caused both Ryan and I to go bankrupt, leaving him the winner!

Sunday and Monday were the toughest parts of the weekend, as we had the rosary, wake service and funeral for my Grandpa Schlautman. On Thanksgiving morning, we found out that my grandpa had passed away. He was 92 and in the nursing home, but had recently been getting weaker. Even though he got to join my grandma in Heaven, it was a really sad and difficult time for my family and I. Growing up close to my grandparents, we got the privilege to spend alot of time with them! We visited them often, playing cards and games, going to their house after school, and they were always at all of our school and sports activities. My grandpa was a wonderful man with a such a great work ethic and a strong faith, which he instilled in all of his 8 children, 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  I hope I can be like him someday! It was really tough to let him go and we're all going to miss him very much.

Thankful Thursday & Getting Crafty

Since I was so excited about the Breaking Dawn premiere yesterday, I forgot my Thankful Thursday post. The movie was awesome, so I highly recommend going to see it if you're a Twilight fan!

This week I am thankful for:

My Amazing Family
This week I got to see my mom, brother and sister. It was so nice to spend time with all of them, as we are all so busy and don't get together as often as we would like! They are always there for me when I need them, support me in everything I do and love me no matter what. I'm excited for Thanksgiving next week to go home and have our whole family together, plus lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Great Co-Workers
I am so lucky to have an awesome group of girls to work with. We all have so much fun together and work well together and I'm glad to have met them 2 1/2 years ago when we started at the hospital.

Sunshine
Even though the weather is getting colder, I still love a sunny day! It helps face the cold and makes me smile!

As Christmas gets closer, I made a new craft from Pinterest yesterday.  All I needed was 3 small canvases (can use shoebox lids), scrapbook paper, Mod Podge, ribbon and a hot glue gun.

First, I used the Mod Podge to glue the scrapbook paper to the canvases, cut out the letters on plain red and green paper and glued those on top of the scrapbook paper. Then I used red ribbon and hot glued the canvases a few inches apart and glued ribbon on the top canvas to be able to hang it from the wall.

Here's how it turned out!

The Day Has Finally Come...

Not sure if any of you are Twihard fans (yes, it's the cool name for diehard Twilight fans), but if you are, you're as excited as I am to see the final movie in the series, Breaking Dawn: Part 2! For the second year in a row, I'm going with some girls from work tonight for the midnight premiere (this year they are showing it at 10pm instead, which is even better)!

Some of you non Twilight fans may laugh at me, and that's ok, but I am still not afraid to show my dedication to this Saga. I've read all the books more than once and now I'm ready to see the final movie!

More news after the premiere, I'll let you know what I thought! But until then, are you Team Jacob or Team Edward?!? I can't decide, I just really like both of them!

Girls Night Out

Last night, I my mom, sister and I went out for the night to celebrate my mom's birthday! We did some shopping, got pedicures, and went out to eat at Chili's. It was a fun night together and I was glad to spend some time with them! I am so lucky to have both of them in my life, as they are always there to talk to or get advice from! I love them both so much!

My lovely purple toes after our pedicures.

My leftovers from my delicious meal at Chili's...
Bacon Chicken Ranch Quesadillas

I apologize for the blurry picture...the random lady we asked to take it at the restaurant obviously isn't very good with cameras, but after 2 tries already, we just told her this one was good.

My Long Weekend Review

I got the luxury of a 4 day weekend from work, yeah! So, here's what I did to enjoy it...

Friday
Friday I took advantage of the nice weather and went on a 7 mile run, it felt so good! Friday night we tried our luck with Ryan's sister and her husband at the casino. I played some blackjack and did ok, we even came out a little ahead on the night.

Saturday
Saturday morning I went to a class at our fitness center and then we headed to Lincoln for the Husker football game! This was my first time attending a game in a few years, and it was great to be back at Memorial Stadium. The Huskers pulled out an exciting win against Penn State and it was a gorgeous day for tailgating and the football game.

Sunday
Sunday morning we went to church, ran a few errands, and spent the rest of the day relaxing at home! For supper, we made chili for the first time and it turned out pretty delicious!

Monday
I started off my morning with a workout on the elliptical, and then went to have lunch with Ryan at Skeeter Barnes. After lunch, I went to visit my brother at college for a couple hours, and then came home and made an ornament wreath. Thanks to my friend Stacey for the idea!

Thankful Thursdays

As Thanksgiving gets closer, I have so many things to be thankful for! I am stealing this post idea from my lovely friend Samantha at 3 Oh 1 Grace St., so go check out her awesome blog too!

This week I am thankful for:

The Lord
He is always there for me and has given me so many blessings, most of which I don't deserve. He is there in the good and bad and watches over me constantly.

A Warm Home
As the weather gets colder, and also seeing the devastation from Superstorm Sandy, I am so thankful for a roof over my head and a warm house to come home to every night, as many people do not have homes or shelters.

My Husband
As we have been married now for a little over 5 months, I am so blessed and thankful for my husband Ryan. He is always there for me and I don't know what I would do without him!

2. If you can travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to travel to Europe to see Paris, Rome, London and some of the other beautiful, historic cities. While there, I would also enjoy seeing some of the famous sites from World Wars I and II.

3. What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
1) Go to The Ellen Show
2) Travel to Europe
3) Run a full marathon

4. If you could have 3 wishes granted, what would they be?

2) Win the lottery
3) Live on the beach

5. What's your favorite song of the moment?
It's a tie between "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line and "Your Love Never Fails" by The Newsboys

And for a short recap from my weekend: Friday night we went to Omaha to hangout at a sports bar with some friends! Saturday, we headed home to celebrate my cousin's wedding. It was great to see lots of family and friends! Sunday, we spent some time with our families before heading back. It was a good weekend overall.
